Lots of thoughts today
There are so many things on my mind today so I’ll be doing my usual jumping around from subject to subject.
My first thought has to do with how intense everything is for people. And ALOT of people haven’t gotten the memo about the world NOT coming to an end, so there are ALOT of very fearful people living their lives in a state of panic.
That thought leads me to my next thought which is about suffering. Something very interesting came to me about suffering in the last couple of weeks and I’ve seen it play out over and over with people. PEOPLE BELIEVE THEY NEED TO SUFFER……………
Where did we get this belief and how can we get rid of it? We got it from religion because that’s what they believe, BUT WE CAN CHOSE TO BELIEVE DIFFERENTLY. This belief permeates everything we do and it’s AWFUL. Is this really what God wants for us is to suffer? Is this the message that Jesus brought to us?
NO, NO AND MORE NO’S.
In my readings with people, I’m seeing people so stuck in this belief that no matter how good life gets, they seem to crawl back into that suffering mode. That belief coupled with feeling they don’t deserve anything good is really destroying people’s hope or desire to keep going. WE NEED TO CHANGE THIS and that’s what 2012 is about. Breaking out of the old patterns and learning how to actually be happy. Feeling deserving of happiness. People talk about wanting that, but these old patterns run very deep in our souls, and that’s what needs to shift this year. Breaking out of the old patterns and trying life a different way.
I’m thinking about doing an on line video class that addresses this whole area. Oh my goodness, just when I typed that sentence, a hummingbird flew right up to my window. it was so sweet. I looked up the meaning of hummingbirds in Ted Andrews Animal Speaks Pocket Guide and it says “Dreams and new joy are within reach-opportunity for accomplishment, along with promising success and renewed health.”
I love it. I’ll meditate on the class idea more and let you know if it’s a go.
Something that’s really been bothering me lately is that I’m not sure if my work as a psychic is as much of a help to people as I want it to be. I answer people’s questions and bring through guidance that they need, but is that really helping them on their journey to grow spiritually? Are they learning to rely on their inner voice if I or other psychics are giving them all the information? In my book Echoes of the Soul, I mention that old chinese proverb about “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” I don’t want to give someone a fish for a day. I want to teach them to fish for themselves. Teach them to get their own answers.
When I get emails like I did this morning begging me to get someone in for a reading immediately, or other requests saying they must speak to me right away, or the many requests I’m getting from people asking for free readings, I sit back and wonder what good any of this is doing.
Some of the readings are very significant and I’m always grateful to do those. The ones that have helped the person understand their life path better and steer them in the direction of their spirituality. But the majority of the questions are answers they can get for themselves, if they would take the time to pray and meditate.
It’s something we all need to learn how to do eventually so I’m going to make a change in the work I do.
I’m not sure at this point how that will look, but I want to make a shift from being a psychic to more of a teacher that teaches people how to fish for themselves.
2012 is a big year of shifts. They are happening all year. People’s lives are changing and shifting if they will allow the changes to take place. Many will resist change and they will have health challenges. Many will stay stuck in that suffering mode.
I just had the most interesting picture in my head of a bunch of graves being un-earthed and the message that came is that whatever is making you feel dead needs to shift this year. Up-root the old. Get rid of it and learn how to be happy. OMG. Just now when I typed that, a big beautiful robin was standing right outside my window, so I looked up it’s meaning and it says “A new spring is upon you. Trust in your new creative idea’s. Stretch yourself into new area’s. Your efforts will be rewarded.” Seems to be the morning of signs from the Universe. I love it.
Last but not least is a CD special I want to offer you for the rest of May. I want to do something to help you make the shifts you need to and reach for some happiness. I made a guided meditation CD a few months ago called A Healing for Your Body and it’s very cool. I’ve had many great comments from people that use this CD on a regular basis to get healing for their body, mind and soul. It’s originally $15.00 and we’re offering $3.00 off.
Go to my store page: https://echobodine.com/store.htm Add the download to the shopping cart and use discount code DISC30 for a special $3 discount. The discount code is good until the end of the month. Suffering is not an attribute. It doesn’t get us gold medals in heaven. It keeps a wedge between us and God and this is not how we are intended to live. I don’t care what religion believes. This is not how we are to live our lives.
It’s an old belief imbedded deep in our souls but we can get rid of it. Believe it or not, we come here to learn how to be happy. To prosper. To know abundance. To know joy and laughter. To truly feel alive.SO LETS’ DO IT.
Stay safe this week end and don’t forget to check in with your intuition when making plans. It will never steer you wrong.
I love this post; it was very helpful to me today. I too had believed that suffering was necessary for personal/spiritual growth. I do continue to believe that difficult life experiences occur in order to allow our souls to learn the life lessons needed for growth. However, your post helped clarify that suffering is only one part of life and when the bad events are over, we need to take the lessons they offered and rejoice in the happiness that follows and NOT “crawl back into that suffering mode.” Even though bad times can serve a purpose, the happy times are really what life is all about. We need to rejoice in the happiness and goodness of life and seek out those experiences rather than seeking out (or at least getting stuck in the rut of) suffering!
Great post! I honestly feel that when you give people a reading it provides much comfort and healing. The teaching is great too, but I doubt anyone can learn when they are in pain and deep grief. Once one has the comfort of “knowing” they can then grow spiritually. I love what you do! I am currently enrolled in your online psychic development class.
I recommend the CD you mentioned very highly to others. It has made such a difference in how I view my day. I use it several times a week.
Oh Wanda. that’s wonderful to hear. thanks for saying that. Love, Echo
What a great post – AMEN, AMEN AND AMEN. Just smile and be happy.
It’s that simple.
I read today’s post in which you questioned whether your work is really helping people. So I decided to tell you about my experience with your book Echoes of the Soul. I’d never heard of you or your work until I was led to have a medium reading in February 2007. During that reading, my guides urged me to get Echoes of the Soul. Though it was not the first metaphysical book I’d read, it had a huge impact on me. Reading it was like reviewing a personal memory. It all felt so absolutely right to me. Reading your book began a year of remarkable spiritual progress, and contributed to learning ever since. I understand why you have your doubts, and I agree absolutely the people need to learn how to make their own spiritual progress. That said, I wanted to assure you that your work has, at least for me, led to exactly that kind of spiritual learning/progress. Whatever you decide for the future, I send a heartfelt thank you for all the work you’ve done. I don’t know that I’d have gotten to where I am now (a place I really like) without the trigger provided by Echoes of the Soul. I am deeply grateful to you and my guides.
I wholeheartedly agree! Echo has touched my life in a very deep way and intuitively I know that she has touched of many, many others as well. Thank you for everything you do, Echo! You are a blessing!
Echo – what a great post. I see more and more people wanting to make the change but challenge it every step of the way. Life is a progress, there is no finished product… but so many of us forget that and so caught up in the “dark places” which are so comfortable for alot of us.. a safe place. But to go beyond that dark place, too pick up the rock and just take that one step towards peace and love… is one step closer to God. Thank you so much for this post Echo.. it is just what the doctor ordered. love you.
You have a gift that DOES heal people. It’s like a doctor when he gives meds to a patient…he doesn’t see it work but knows it does. People, as you know, have a lot of issues to deal with and having a gifted reader, that is believed in like yourself, will heal the person from the inside in so many tremendous ways.
Your readings are also leading the way for people to see that it really is possible and when they are ready, they will pursue their own spiritual awareness.
I have never had a reading by you but have read ALL your books and some of the best educating parts were the actual readings & experiences you told about because they taught me the truth. From those stories, I talk to my spirit guides & angels not knowing for sure that they hear me but because of you, I BELIEVE they do. I have also become more in tune with my own intuition, and make decisions from my “gut”.
When I am ready, I plan on getting the education, and as I get older, I become more open to it…some become more open at a younger age.
I would like to see you continue readings but you must follow your what your heart tells you so you do it out of passion and not regret. Either way, just remember, we all love you!
I’ve been a fan of yours for over 10 years now, and every time I read your posts, I find a centering in my soul. How profound that you said that “suffering is NOT an attribute”! Growing up in the Catholic church, they teach and instill nothing but suffering, it seems, and it’s hard to move beyond that. I really appreciated your post about how continuing to suffer in life is not how we’re meant to live – I’ve been trying to focus on that the past few weeks or so, for I hate feeling that way. You’ve inspired me to move beyond the suffering. Thank you, Echo.
I really want to learn to fish – I mean to open up to the voice within. I have been working really hard to learn to do this, but have not been able to yet. I have read 3 of your books. Meditating, and talking to my guides. But I am still not hearing the voice within. But I am still working on it. If you can help me learn to “fish” I would love to sign up for that.
Awesome read thank you Echo!
I couldn’t have said it any better Echo!! Having been brought up in the bible belt of the deep South and raised Southern Baptist, it’s like it’s in Southern women’s genes to suffer for themselves as well as everybody else!! It took me until my 30′s to finally figure out that guilt is a wasted emotion and since then I have refused to feel guilty about anything! I never intentionally hurt anyone and I always try to do my best at whatever I do, therefore I have nothing to ever feel guilty about! And God wants us to enjoy our lives through knowing and listening to Spirit, helping and loving each other and always having the best of intentions. I have been studying Healing Touch since 2007 and other energy/spiritual work also. It has all opened up so many doors to me and I continue to grow and learn. Even as a child hearing the ‘hellfire and damnation’ sermons and about God’s wrath, I somehow always felt deep down that this wasn’t right and things are not black and white. So much has been misconstrued and destroyed through organized religion when the only message God and Jesus ever had is about love, love for them, yourself, each other, nature and all things. God bless you Echo!
I just found your site/blog through another blog that loves your work. I am amazed at what you have to say just in this post! 🙂 I feel…free! I’ve been struggling with trying to ‘free’ myself and learning and studying spirituality, that I forgot to live.
May I ask you a quick question? I have this belief that our souls are already perfect, but it’s our body/mind/emotions that need changing or ‘spiritual development’ not our souls. I realized this yesterday, and it still makes me wonder if it may be true. Would you mind helping me out with this, please? Thank-you!
Also, I really like your blog and energy; feels very positive and loving. 😀

I am now retired and wondered what more can I learn in my remaining years. And then I discovered you and your simple message while trolling on my computer. I now have your full library of meditations and teachings– looking forward to the day when I can talk to my Guides and my God.
After reading your current and past blogs I can see a good change is coming for you: Teaching people how to fish for themselves.
Thank you Echo and obviously,
God Bless

Your thoughts about if psychics are really helping people on their spiritual journey is a good one.
I think the answer is multi-faceted.
Ultimately, I do think that being psychic is a true gift, and that nothing comes through that isn’t meant to. I do think it is helpful for people on their spiritual journeys. It’s nice to have confirmation, clarity, and to feel that connection.
I see it as a way of helping people along, especially those who are early in their journey, still unsure, and probably don’t yet trust their out intuitive voice. I think that psychic readings are a way to help people develop their own intuition.
On the other hand, something Emmet Fox wrote in one of his books has always stuck with me. He wrote: “Do not dabble in psychic things. The chief objection to the running after mediums that so many people practice is that it is really a running away from the responsibilities of life.”
And then he went on to say how you should just trust God no matter what is going to happen, so why would you need to see a psychic anyway?
(Sidenote: But then, I’ve also read, how Emmet Fox went on to study psychics and astrology, so I’m not entirely sure where he sits on the subject anymore, or if he was totally against it in the first place.)
So, in conclusion to the thought about if psychics are really helping people… maybe?
