Are Psychics and Fortune Tellers the same thing?
I think because I’ve done this work and have taught psychic development for fifty years that I make the mistake of thinking everyone understands what psychic abilities are versus fortune tellers and that’s one of those “my bad”. Psychic abilities or as the Bible calls it, the Gift of Prophecy, is four different ways of receiving information. Clairvoyance is the gift of seeing which means that we get our information in the form of pictures and visions. Clairaudience is the gift of hearing, which means we receive thoughts from spirit. Clairsentience is the gift of sensing and Clairgustance is the gift of smell such as smelling a deceased loved one when they visit ie; cigarette smoke, their cologne, flowers, etc.
A fortune teller is usually someone that does not have any of these gifts but uses tools to get their information such as Tarot, the I Ching, Coins, Tea Leaves, etc. Psychics might also use these tools to aid in their work, but do not rely on them completely.
There are a lot of mis-conceptions about psychics that I talk about in my book called The Gift. True gifted psychics work hard to hone their skills. It takes many years of practice to understand the visions and learn to discern between our thoughts and the thoughts that come in from spirit. When seeking out a psychic, always go to someone that you’ve heard good things about or have been referred by a friend. Case in point is this article that one of my students sent me about this fortune teller in Manhattan. Nothing irritates me more than hearing about someone getting scammed by a fortune teller. I wish I could make a really big poster and hang it on the wall of life: DO NOT TRUST ANY PSYCHIC THAT TELLS YOU THERE IS A CURSE ON YOU OR WHO CAN BREAK A SPELL THAT’S BEEN PUT ON YOU AND ESPECIALLY DO NOT TRUST A “PSYCHIC” THAT TELLS YOU THAT YOU NEED TO PAY THEM OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO HELP YOU.
Do not give your power away to these people. If you get a letter in the mail warning you of a dark cloud or a hex or a spell or a curse that’s been put on you and for a mere $500. this so called psychic will remove it for you. Throw the letter away and don’t engage with the person at all. The price of getting involved with them continues to rise each week. YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED. Here’s an example:
Priscilla Delmaro, Manhattan psychic, accused of scamming $700,000 fro New York man, report says…
A New York man who sought help from a fortuneteller to fix a romantic relationship
Unfortunately there are many stories like this one and it’s simply because people are naïve about psychics and fortune tellers or desperate. One thing these fortune tellers and psychics can spot is a victim and you don’t need to be victimized. Not all psychics are on the up and up either. I’ve met a few in my day that do not have ethics or boundaries. People have gotten the impression from watching the New York Medium that we all go up to complete strangers and bring a message from their deceased but the ethical psychics I know DO NOT DO THAT. We respect people’s boundaries and give messages only when asked.
Again I want to stress, if you are looking for a good ethical psychic, ask your friends if they would know of someone they would recommend. I have a great referral list on my website www.echobodine.com as do most of the well known psychics. If you’re feeling desperate, wait a few days and let the Universe give you the guidance you’re searching for. That’s what your intuition is. Your inner guidance from the Divine.
For those of you who suspect you have psychic abilities but haven’t developed them, I have two classes coming up. My 12 week in person psychic development class begins Tuesday, June 23rd and my next online class begins in August. Click here for details: www.vivainstitute.com.
I hope this clears up some of the misconceptions out there. We’re here to help.
Sincerely,
Echo
This may be silly, but I love that you used the term, “my bad”! It made me giggle a bit!❤️
Love your books and your brother’s! Have an interesting story to share. I once bought one of your books second hand online. It arrived and to my surprise, you had inscribed a personal message to the previous owner. The chances the universe delivering a signed copy are unfathomable. Here’s where it gets interesting. As I’m reading the book, it feels like my hands are buzzing. Yes, like an energy source is surging through my body. Whenever I put the book down, it went away. I didn’t really know what to think, except maybe it was because you personally held and written in the book or the previous owner. Any extra senses beyond the four to describe this?
I also want to say, “The Gift” is a must read for anyone interested in learning about spiritual gifts.
Thank you for writing about psychics that say they can remove spells. I was in Los Angeles and had the same experience. She told me I was cursed and if I gave her some money she could remove the curse. I left and didn’t pay her but have often wondered if she was correct. In fact I was just telling a friend about it last night ! So glad I read your article Echo!
