The Devil DOES Wear Prada

It takes a LOT to get me riled up, but when it does happen, you can pretty much see steam coming out of my head and it happened last night when one of my students sent me the latest post Doreen Virtue put out on her site.

I have spent the last fifty plus years working hard to bring integrity and truth to the psychic profession. It’s been a long, somewhat crazy journey to say the least, but it’s been worth it to see people’s beliefs change and grow in understanding of what the gift of prophecy really is. I can honestly say of all the professional psychics I have met over the years, 90% of them do this work to help others, and most of them have a spiritual (versus a religious) relationship with God. They take their gift seriously and never intend to harm anyone. Sure there’s the 10% that do it for ego and monetary reasons and that’s in every profession.

Most of you that know me personally know that my relationship with Jesus has been the most important relationship in my life. The spirit of Jesus taught me the Gift of Healing and I have pursued his teachings for the last 67 years, starting at age 4. He has been the single most prominent figure in my life.

When someone comes along and tries to convince people that the Gift of Prophesy, which comes from the Holy Spirit according to Corinthians 12:14 in the Bible, is of the devil or evil, well, that turns me inside out. That person is talking out of their ass as far as I’m concerned and it’s infuriating. Stop quoting Deuteronomy or Leviticus and get into the New Testament if you’re going to lay false claim of being a Christian.

These people who say psychics work for the devil are no more an authority of religion than the squirrels in my back yard, yet they love to make it sound like they are. Jesus told all of us to know him in our heart because there will be a lot of false prophets along the way claiming to be him or claiming to know truth. I remember as a little girl feeling really anxious about this because I didn’t want to be fooled or get it wrong. I have found truth in my heart and it is loving and kind, full of joy. None of this nonjudgemental crap that so called Christians like to sling around. (Yes, I consider myself a Christian, but certainly not what Evangelical Christianity is about.)

If you are someone who has the gift of Prophesy, embrace your gift. Don’t try to get rid of it because you’ve been taught it’s evil or of Satan. I do recommend that you develop a spiritual (personal) relationship with God versus religious, which can be very confusing. Religion still doesn’t know what to do with the Gift of Prophesy, so they tend to shy away from talking positively about it or helping people develop this gift. God is going to help you always in discerning your gifts and how they are helpful for people. We do so much more than tell people their futures. OMG, this gift is so much more than that, and Doreen knows that.

I think the best thing we can do for Doreen is to pray for her, that she gets back to her loving self and stop with all this negativity and talk about evil. When someone focuses on the evil versus the goodness, it makes me wonder who they’re really working for.

I guess the Devil really does wear Prada after all.

    Amen Echo!

It’s been a shock to see Doreen doing this. The last time I watched one of her videos (her annual reading in January 2018), I could feel the fear coming off of her. I had to turn it off, it felt so yucky. I’m grateful for my God-given gifts to help me discern this!

    Thank you for addressing this!

    Thanks, Echo! Here’s my story:

After my mystical experience, my mom convinced me to talk to her priest. I was excited to share this miracle and agreed to meet with him.

He seemed intrigued. After we talked for about an hour, he asked me to follow him to the back of the church. My joy quickly changed to shock when I felt water drops all over my face. I thought the priest had spit on me!

My shock quickly turned to anger when I realized he was actually throwing holy water. Feeling like the “bad witch” from The Wizard of Oz, I shouted, “Why are you throwing holy water on me? What did you think I would do? Melt?”

With an emphatic “FU,” I left the church. I really think Jesus walked out with me.

You know I used to have conversations with my very Catholic parents about my gift of intuition (prophesy) if you will. I had struggled with it for many years. It scared me because I did not know what to do with it. Then I started reading about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. It struck me that “his Gift” was the gift of precognition, the precognition of his own death. I am sure religious scholars would find this explanation way to simplistic. I have been ok with my gift ever since. I truly believe this is one of the messages from the Garden of Gethsemane. Something from Jesus can never be from the devil. :) Peace and Love

    Dear Echo,

I ‘KNOW’ what you mean. I had to deal with my gifts the same way and since I was brought up Catholic, I experiened a lot of guilt because of the ‘religion’. My ‘inner voice’, which I call my spirit guide or guardian angel always was there, telling me to “be calm and continue to search for the truth”. As I grew older, I had less doubt about the ‘gifts’ that we were given, each one of us there own, and it was made very clear to me as I studied history of the scriptures and found out that the church (no matter which denomination, really) took out many of the stories of ‘gifted people’ in a positive light but left in the negative aspects of evil for people conjuring with demons. Gee, thanks guys! They wanted to be the ones that people should ask guidance from rather then letting the spirit work within them for their own benefit. I think many folks get caught up in what the ‘Churches’ want them to know and not want people to search for themselves on finding the truth. The collection bins wouldn’t be full would they. I believe very much in Christ, but I also believe in the many ‘Prophets’ who came before him in different places in the world. Its just common sense, Geez louise! By the way, to me a ‘Psychic’ is the same as a ‘Prophet’, though the specialty of seeing or knowing may be different. The question is, why is one word accepted and the other deemed evil. Oh, because one is done with the ‘Occult’ and the other from Gods graces?! No, they are the same. We are children of God with great possibilities of foresight, who can very easily be manipulated by man and or the Devil. We have to choose which path to follow and for me, I use prayer to guide me. It has never failed me and my faith has not been deterred. So, my dear friend, don’t let yours be either. You’re not alone, besides, you already know that. We cannot make people choose the light of knowledge from the dark of being undermined by people. We all must find our way. I hope that your path will always be lit by sunshine and when we are in a dark place, the moon will shine so bright, to show us a path for us to continue.
    Sincerely,
    Jeff Taylor

  5. I saw a John Oliver show that pitched a similar message and it simply makes me SAD, so sad. I offer my light, love, and hopefulness to each and every reading client. I bring the message of promise, consistent joy and the glimpse of our own messed-up self-destruction behavior that can be turned-around for GOOD.
Let’s all stay in the positive, breed peace and freedom of relationship and allow those who are naysayers drift away, out of focus, where they can do no harm.

Thank you Echo, for The Devil Does Wear Prada, so truthful, if depressing.

I was not aware that Doreen Virtue had taken such a turn, so to speak.

So much was omitted from scripture including women’s voices.

I find myself praying to Mary, in the meantime.

Back in 1981 or 82, you took me in as the twelfth person of your psychic development class. It was a life changing experience for me. Born with psychic ability I didn’t know how to manage, your guidance and expertise taught me how to master and control my gifts. Moreover, it removed the guilt and insecurity that comes from being judged by religious people who don’t have a clue about our spiritual self.
Over the years I have used my gifts to help many souls along the way. I have been told that I have saved lives. I no longer do readings but have a prophetic and mediumship ability that I am grateful for.
In short, you and Unity had a profound impact on my life. I have lived in Arizona for 30 years but have never found a support system here as there was in Mpls. Just wanted to give you some well deserved acknowledgment for your incredible contributions to so many lives.
